There is once again much to discuss. Topics include:-Watkins Glen IZOD IndyCar Series race-Is Will Power going to cruise to the championship?-Milka Duno (no explanation needed)-Ryan Hunter-Reay’s full season deal-Adam Carroll’s debut and future with Andretti Autosport-The future of Watkins Glen in IndyCar-The rest of the 2011 schedule and a likely shift in how races are promoted (co-promoted)-24 races in the near future?-Any new insight on ...

Thursday, July 1 show notes

"Trackside" is tonight (Thursday, July 1st) from 7-9 Eastern on 1070 The Fan and 1070TheFan.com. Facts are great, but often speculation and educated guesses (we hope they're somewhat educated) are much more fun. The latter will be much of the focus tonight. We'll learn details about the next generation IndyCar in two weeks and so far there's been no leak as to which path Randy Bernard and the ICONIC committee are headed. So, we'll try to connect some dots and make some guesses. We'll also review the different chassis options and what we've learned. The engine package is also part of the discussion.Shortly after the new car is unveiled, the next story off track will be next year's schedule. We'll spend a little more time on that tonight and visit with Jerry Gappens, the New Hampshire Motor Speedway GM. EJ Viso, fresh off a 3rd place finish at Iowa, ...

Thursday 6/10 show notes

Trackside returns to Thursday for this week (June 10th), but we’ll continue to bounce around throughout the summer and will be on Tuesday the next two weeks (June 15th and 22nd). "Trackside" is tonight (Wednesday April 21st from 8-10 eastern) because of Thursday's NFL Draft. We will go very light on guests because of the amount of information to cover. I would go guest-free, but I like James Hinchcliffe and want to have him on to discuss his first Firestone Indy Lights win. I have maintained that he is the type of personality that can help IndyCar grow, so it's good to see him get to Victory Lane (he won twice in Atlantics).
Also, after a week in Washington DC with his son, Curt Cavin is back with us in studio tonight.
Otherwise, we have lots of room for questions and comments via email at kevin@1070TheFan.com and on Twitter at KevinLee23. I suspect questions will help us cover much of the news. But, here are some of the other stories:
-Impact of Ryan Hunter-Reay's win on his full-season chances.
-Is Andretti ...

April 1st show notes

Tonight is the April Fools edition of Trackside, but I promise there will be no false information passed along - at least intentionally. There is plenty of real news and racing to discuss. The IZOD IndyCar Series is coming off of another entertaining street race. We'll recap St. Pete and I'll continue to rethink my preseason predictions concerning Will Power. Another good story is Justin Wilson and Dreyer & Reinbold. Team co-owner and Versus analyst Robbie Buhl will be on the show. There have also been a couple of more confirmations for Indy. John Andretti will join us tonight to talk about joining his cousin's team for Indy and Kansas. We also have self-serving news to report. We'll make a show-related announcement tonight (no, we're not being canceled yet). As to the Twitter post concerning potentially big news, here is a more detailed explanation of what I know, don't know ...

Thursday 3/25 show notes

As always, there will be plenty to discuss tonight concerning the IZOD IndyCar Series. We've again been treated to news on the day of the show with the announcement of ABC's Robin Roberts as this year's pace car driver for the 500. Also this week, Robin Miller reports Graham Rahal is likely to return to Newman Haas Lanigan for the rest of the season after his 2-race run with Sarah Fisher. The Indy Racing League is also forming a committee, led by a former Air Force general, to help choose the next generation IndyCar. And next year's schedule is reportedly close to taking some form with Baltimore taking another step towards securing a race.Guests tonight include former 500 runner-up Scott Goodyear, who will begin his 5-race schedule as ABC's analyst at St. Pete. Also, Just Marketing International founder and CEO Zak Brown will talk sponsorships and appropriately - marketing. ...

Thursday 3/18 show notes

We now have a race to talk about in the IZOD IndyCar Series! And there's plenty to discuss: season opener outside of US, a new event and venue, cancellation of quals because of a poor racing surface and the solution for race day, a first-turn melee, a red flag because of a rain storm, and most importantly - multiple passes on track for the lead late in the race. The winner of the Sau Paulo Indy 300, Will Power, is scheduled to join us. We'll also celebrate, as Jeff at MyNameisIRL noted, the ended of another long national nightmare - the return of Versus to those of us with DirecTV. Along with the other items that come up, we may revisit some of Randy Bernard and Brian Barnhart's comments from last week's show. We're only scheduling one guest tonight so we can (hopefully) get through quite a few emails and ...
