Riley Children's Foundation Giving Tuesday 2017

This Giving Tuesday, the Fan Fam has joined forces with Riley Children's Foundation as JMV, Dan Dakich and Big Joe Staysniak have each partnered up with a Riley Kid who knows exactly how special Riley is and who want YOU to give at rileygivingtuesday.org!

Meet JMV's Riley Kid, Gracie of Danville:

Grace Bennett was 3 years old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor at Riley Hospital for Children. She had surgery, underwent two years of chemotherapy and was stable for a year before she began having seizures. To help stop her seizures, Riley Pediatric Neurosurgeon Jodi Smith, M.D. removed the tumor in her right frontal lobe. Grace has become an inspiration to her community because of her strength and motivation to give back to Riley Hospital. Grace has shared her story in Riley videos, dance marathons and other events, and every summer and fall her family hosts a softball tournament to fund wishes for local families. Grace loves to play softball and continues to do so, even after her three surgeries.

Meet Ben, Dan's Riley Kid from New Palestine:

In the spring of 2011, Ben Edwards, then 18 months old, was diagnosed with brain cancer. In the past seven years, Ben has undergone more than seven surgeries and over thirty proton therapy treatments—but he is cancer free! As a history teacher, Chris Edwards, Ben’s dad, was inspired to dedicate himself to his students the same way he saw Riley staff dedicate themselves to their patients. Royalties from his five-volume textbook series, “Connecting the Dots in World History: A Teacher’s Literacy Based Curriculum” benefit Dance Marathon at Fishers High School. Ben’s dad is also an active blogger for Riley Children’s Foundation. You can keep up with Ben and the Edwards family right here.

Meet Mason Lee, Big Joe's Riley Kid from Greenwood:

Mason was born with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosis. At less than 1 month old, he received his first open heart surgery at Riley Hospital for Children. He will have to continue to have his conduit valve replaced every five to 10 years for the rest of his life. Mason is a very active boy often running circles around other kids his age. He is always happy and loves to make people laugh. He also LOVED Big Joe's Superbowl Rings! Learn more about the Lee's Riley story here.
