Was firing Crean right move for IU?


WAS FIRING TOM CREAN THE RIGHT MOVE FOR IU?

I can understand anyone who is apprehensive about the move.  But Tom has shown you what his ceiling is with this team.  He brought the team back from a shaky time, but he didn't complete the mission, and there's no reason to believe he would have achieved the ultimate goal with more time.  Now we'll find out just how attractive this job still is.

I had said Tom Crean hit the ceiling at I.U. and apparently Fred Glass agreed. More consistent success and in-state recruiting will be essential for the next hire.  The right call was made.

Yes and no. I think given what Crean inherited and for all the good he did for the program, he earned to get at least one more year. However, the natives were beyond restless. And in the end, I think the fear of losing donors and losing $$$ in general from declining interest and/or butts-in-seats won out.
