Tony D's Tip Sheet: Top Golf, Tailgates + Peyton Statue Reveal

Everyone wants more than the tip

Damn, it's a busy weekend ahead in the circle city isn't it? Between Garth Brooks playing a gazillion shows to Peyton Manning's return to town, the city is abuzz! Hell, I even saw Reggie Miller on the street Friday afternoon + A.J. Foyt is in town too? Wow, all my sports heroes are within a 2 mile radius. I'm not sure what to do with my hands!

Tip #1

Pretty simple here. Get out of the house and enjoy the weekend downtown. It's going to be packed, but you never know who you will run into! Vice President Pence is scheduled to be in town for the retiring of Peyton's jersey & statue unveil. Security will be tight because of the VP's visit, as well as the senseless tragedy in Las Vegas last Sunday. It still should be a fun weekend with numerous familiar faces in town, the statue will be unveiled on Saturday afternoon at 3pm, with the Colts taking on the 49ers Sunday from Lucas Oil Stadium, on your way to the stadium, stop by the Georgia Street Tailgate and enjoy a $3 Budlight with us at The Fan!

Tip #2

Top Golf! I had a chance this week to get a sneak peek at Top Golf in Fishers. Whether you have been before or will be a first-timer like I was, you have to check it out! Even if you are not very good at golf, it's a great time. From the lights that move to the music that blares throughout the building, to the bar & tasty food you'll enjoy it all! It's pretty affordable too, $45 for a "bay" for an hour, up to 6 people! No need to bring clubs either, they supply you with those! Top Golf Fishers opens on Friday Oct. 13th.

Tip #3

How about some date ideas for the weekend ahead? It's haunted house season and what better way to welcome in the fall then to take your partner to a haunted house? I mean, nothing more sexy than seeing your girlfriend jump five feet in the air when a masked man runs after her with a chainsaw, but you get the play the hero and hold her tight & be the knight in shining armor as a teenage kid dressed as a clown making 8.25 an hour makes growling noises as you walk through a dark room. If that's not your scene, check out 16 Candles playing in Broad Ripple at the Vogue on Saturday night, they might play Thriller by Michael Jackson.

Tip #4

The MLB playoffs are back and seemingly better than ever. The one game Wild Card play ins from both the NL & AL were spectacular. Baseball playoffs seemingly never disappoint and I except that trend to keep up. My original World Series call prior to the season was Astros & Nationals, but damn, the Yankees and Cubs will be fun to watch as well through their respected series.

Tip #5

Sign up for this awesome contest we have running right now at The Fan. JMV & I could be coming to your place to catch a game with you. We will bring the food and Evan Williams bourbon to your place for a party big enough for 30 of your friends. We have done these in the past, and they have been nothing short of a blast, even the time the guy was so drunk by 6pm on Sunday that his wife kicked us all out.

Also, not so much a tip, but something that always made me feel good, Oct 6 marks the 31st anniversary of the show "Double Dare" on Nickelodeon. This was my favorite game show growing up as a kid, and I thought it was the worth the mention. The host, Marc Summers is from Indianapolis!
