Butler’s move to the Atlantic 10 was inevitable. It was a given that with the success of its basketball program and heightened national profile, Butler was going to be presented with wide ranging opportunities.
 
Why the A-10?
 
From a university perspective the A-10 is a perfect fit. The conference is made up of schools with similar academic values of similar size with a mostly private feel. Never discount potential for the almighty dollar. Butler now has open doors to the east coast student that it had not previously targeted. IU has set the model for east coast recruiting. Parents on the east coast have come to realize the schools in the Midwest offer great educations in terrific settings for minimal cost as compared to schools out east.
