NFL PICKS THIS WEEK
Posted 9/10/2010 7:07:00 AM
OK, time for some NFL picks. I had the Saints last night as did most of the world.
MIAMI at BUFFALO – I like the Dolphins giving up 3.5. Chan Gailey will do OK in Buffalo but NOT enough to win. CJ Spiller is awesome. Miami is solid.
INDY at HOUSTON – I see a close game. Vegas ONLY giving the Texans 2.5 so they think it will be close too. I will NOT be surprised if Texans win…but I’m going with the locals to beat the spread.
CLEVELAND at TAMPA BAY – Bucs won only 3 games last year, yet giving Clev 2.5 points. Tampa has better weather, nicer stadium and Mons Venus. But I like the Browns and Mangini and Holmgren come together for a season opening victory!
ATLANTA at PITTSBURGH – Maybe the weekend’s most intriguing game. Steelers getting points AT ...
Notre Dame and Meechigan. RICH ROD in the BEND!

FOOTBALL NOTES – OK, I have been going back and forth ALL WEEK on this Michigan-Notre Dame game…..before the season started I had it down as a “W” for the Irish…then with last Saturday’s effort (30-10 over UCONN) by the Wolverines and their outstanding QB Denard Robinson, I had to readjust and re-evaluate….I went back and forth…
Tuesday I told friends I like UM…Wednesday I told friends I was leaning towards ND…Well, it’s almost here...I gotta pick….Last week I remind you that I picked the Irish by 11 vs. Purdue and was ON THE NOSE…This week?????....Oh well, here we go...I like the Irish by ….8….Yep, eight point ND win….
Call me a homer, tell me I drank the kool aid….This is a game that in “their” first seasons Holtz and Ara were able to win….I’m not saying Kelly is a Holtz or Ara YET, but he’s closer ...

FOOTBALL NOTES – Like most of the free world I like the Saints tonite vs. the Vikings….I see the Vikes as one of the more disappointing teams this year in the NFL…
I really like Green Bay and Atlanta as the powers in the NFC…and I am buying the Niners as a surprise team….
I believe Dallas will NOT live up to its hype and Jerry Jones will NOT have a Super Bowl in his home stadium…
THAT may happen the following year though when the Colts pull a ”Butler” and play a Super Bowl at home….How bout that? …Would make this state flip over…
I think the Colts DO NOT get to the Super Bowl this year…I am not a homer….I root for the Colts but I think this year they fall short – hope I am wrong…
Now, I am the guy who last year at camp in ...
Notre Dame - Purdue - Colts - Gridiron Grunts!

GRIDIRON GRUNTS – Spent Saturday in South Bend for Purdue-Notre Dame and what a day…..first of all the weather may have been the most perfect for a season opener in a long, long time….and I’ve been going to games there since 1982…usually its hot, humid, but this day was picture perfect…..Now, the game wasn’t “perfect” by any sense but everyone had a lot of questions going in for both teams and I don’t know how many really got answered…If you were a “betting man” I hope you listened to either Joe Staysniak or Dan Dakich last Friday….I was on both shows and said that Notre Dame would win by 11, 28-17…..The final in the Bend? 23-12…..the offense wasn’t what I thought but I did get the 11-point margin ON THE NOSE!.....I will say, right now, I am not too positive about Michigan next week but stay tuned will give you ...
COLTS - Umpire Rule - no surprise!
Posted 8/27/2010 10:13:00 AM
Wow, thank goodness it’s ONLY preseason…that was a real butt whipping in Wisconsin Thursday night…Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers made everyone say “Brett WHO?” and the Packers defense looked like it was led by Ray Nitschke ....But, it IS only preseason…but some things NEVER change…looks like for say, the 20th year in a row the Colts special teams will be the weak link on this team…But as the old saying goes as long as ole No. 18 is around, Colts will still win…..but some holes certainly were exposed vs. the Packers….. Now, I assume everyone will be up in arms today about the new NFL rule that has the umpire sitting in the offensive backfield….certainly ESPN announcers made a big deal about it….But, I hope you were not surprised….I hope you remember that this topic was first brought up by us when we covered it heavily during our shows on site ...
