Who deserves to be NFL Rookie of the Year? RG3 or Andrew Luck?
Tired of that debate yet? If not, I’ll touch base with you again after Christmas…
Truth is, you can make strong arguments on both sides. RG3 and Luck each have remarkable numbers.
Luck is fourth in the NFL in passing yards.
RG3 has the third highest quarterback rating in the league.
Luck has nearly 1,000 more passing yards than RG3.
RG3 has 500 more rushing yards than Luck.
RG3 has 12 fewer interceptions…but the Colts have had to rely on Luck’s arm more (he’s thrown the ball 178 more times). Plus, he doesn’t have the luxury of a running game to take some of the pressure off (Alfred Morris has over 1,100 yards for the ‘Skins).
And while the turnovers have mounted for Andrew, it’s hard to argue with eight wins after twelve games for a team that was lucky to win two last season… The Skins won five a year ago…and to RG3’s credit, they still have a legitimate shot at winning the NFC East.
The reality is BOTH have been brilliant. And though he’s not at their level,Seattle’s Russell Wilson should be given a ton of credit as well.
As I’ve stated on the air numerous times…the problem with this debate is that by arguing on one side, it’s easy to fall into the trap of cheering for the ‘other guy’ to fail…just for the satisfaction of being “right.”
I don’t mind arguing on Luck’s behalf…because in my eyes, he IS the rookie of the year so far. But that doesn’t stop me from appreciating how dynamic and productive RG3 has been as well.
Don’t hate the player…hate the hype. And MAN has there been a lot of hype…
