No home runs...maybe a triple, or perhaps a couple of solid doubles, some scattered singles. Ryan Grigson didn't swing for the fences in the free agency market but rather took measured steps in pursuing the players that he feels will help this ballclub become better. Championships aren't won in March, or during the NFL draft in April. It's all about getting better, getting the players that fit. The jury is out, and will be for awhile. Time will tell if Jim Irsay's cash was spent wisely. There are still holes to be filled, players to be added to this roster. It remains a fluid situation, and won't be set for awhile. Fun to watch though...
Yes, it ended with a thud. That's how the NFL playoffs work. Lose and you go home. But what a memorable season this has been for so many reasons, both on and off the field. The future looks very bright. The biggest piece of the puzzle is in place. Another strong draft, some smart free agency moves, and this team will only improve. That is what we have to look forward to.
Stand up and be proud, Indianapolis...Indiana... Colts fans across this country, around the world. You stood behind your team, you rallied around your coach. Coach Pagano referred to you as the best fans anywhere.
So the off season is here and we will continue on with our weekly Sunday coverage of the Colts, as this will be another off season of transition. Should be fun to watch as this team continues to take shape.
What exactly are our expectations from this years model? Who knows...I expect this team to be competitive, play hard, give a strong effort every Sunday. If that doesn't happen, there will be roster changes. I would imagine that Pagano, Grigson will see to that. Five wins? Perhaps...I haven't resigned myself to anything yet...don't want to think about going through another season much like the last one. The one saving grace will be more high draft picks, a quicker rebuilding process. With alot of cap room, the roster could change quite a bit once again. But that's next year...let's see what happens this year first...
