Purdue Goes Bowling Tonight In Cali

If I told you in September that Purdue would be playing two days after Christmas you probably would have asked me if the game was at Mackey or at another Big Ten gym.
But, nope. We're not here to talk about Matt Painter's crew.
The Boiler football team is still rolling in the wee days of 2017, and they're aiming to finish above .500 for the first time since 2011.
Jeff Brohm's squad will get the chance to do just that tonight in the Foster Farms Bowl against the Arizona Wildcats.
"A 7-6 record sounds a whole lot better than 6-7," junior center Kirk Barron told purduesports.com. "To have a winning record, which hasn't happened at Purdue in a long time, would put an exclamation point on our season for the seniors and also be huge for the program going into next year."
Brohm is one of 13 first-year head coaches in the country to take his new team to a bowl game this season.
"We want to end this season on the right note, and are focused on taking that next step to build something in this program," DJ Knox said. "We are having fun out here, but we know we are here to win a game and bring a bowl trophy back to Purdue."
I think we can all agree that win or lose tonight, the Boilers won big already by Jeff Brohm deciding to remain a resident of West Lafayette. For at least another year.
Kickoff tonight in Santa Clara is at 8:30 on FOX.
