Trackside with Curt Cavin & Kevin Lee

Thursday 6/10 show notes
Posted 6/10/2010 4:24:00 PM
Trackside returns to Thursday for this week (June 10th), but we’ll continue to bounce around throughout the summer and will be on Tuesday the next two weeks (June 15th and 22nd).

Even without guests tonight, we still would have more than enough to discuss.  But, we need to find out what Tony Kanaan thought of driving on dirt and if there are any lingering effects from Texas regarding his teammate, Danica Patrick.  Also, Simona de Silvestro has been very open about discussing her frightful :30-:40 seconds in a burning car after it stopped, so we’ll get her thoughts on the ordeal.  And Rick Mears was offered up to us at the last moment and we don’t turn away four-time winners of the Indianapolis 500.

The race at Texas is worthy of an entire program:

-Ryan Briscoe’s much-needed win.
-Danica Patrick’s strongest run ever in an IndyCar (including her win).
-A 2nd straight 3rd place finish for Marco Andretti.
-Another good race for Andretti Autosport (2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th).
-Tony Kanaan’s post-race comments.
-Will Power’s 2nd straight strong run on an oval without a decent result.
-2nd straight solid result for Alex Lloyd and Dale Coyne.
-Helio vs Mario Moraes.
-Simona de Silvestro’s burning car and struggle by Holmatro Safety team to extricate her and extinguish the fire.

Off the track:
-The ICONIC committee spent several days this week meeting with potential chassis suppliers for the next generation IndyCar.  We also now have more information on the type of engine(s) that will be used.
-Graham Rahal in the 24 car for Iowa, nothing confirmed beyond.
-Will Ryan Hunter-Reay be in the #37 for Andretti Autosport?

As always, send me what I’m neglecting: Kevin@1070thefan.com and join us tonight (June 10th) from 7-9 eastern or search out the podcast after the show (and tell your friends!).
