Thursday 3/11 show notes
Posted 3/11/2010 12:02:00 PM
The IZOD IndyCar season is here! Tonight (Thursday March 11th) on Trackside we look ahead to Sunday's opener in Sau Paulo, Brazil and the season in general.
We'll also have fairly lengthy conversations with Indy Racing League President of Competition and Operations Brian Barnhart and new CEO Randy Bernard. Both of these interviews were taped on Tuesday before their departure for Brazil. I think you'll be interested in much of what they have to say. Conquest rookie driver Mario Romancini will also join us as he prepares to make his series debut in his hometown.
Curt's portion of the program is also on tape. He heads out to Brazil this afternoon, but I'll be in studio with a live segment off the top of the show and have room at the end for some of the emails I receive today. We'll spend some time on Graham Rahal's arrangement with Sarah ...

Trackside
is tonight from 7-9 eastern on 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis and 1070TheFan.com. After another long winter, the IZOD IndyCar
season is just over a week away from it’s opener in Brazil. Yet, the driver lineup is not yet settled. So far today, Milka Duno is the latest
confirmed, joining Dale Coyne Racing.
That brings us to 20 full-time entries with Coyne planning to announce
another and two other part-time entries participating at Brazil. At least one more is expected. Will it be Team 3G/Greg Beck or will
Andretti Autosport's pending announcement also include Brazil? On the driver front, Graham Rahal remains
rideless, but expressed optimism on Twitter yesterday. Several other notable drivers are also
searching. We’ll do our best to sort it
out (or give educated guesses).
We’ll
have at least two guests: 2-time CART
champ and ...
Tuesday Show notes (2/23)

This week's show is on Tuesday (tonight - 2/23 from 7-9 eastern) because the Indiana Pacers play on Wednesday and Thursday night this week, or at least that was the official reason for the schedule change. In reality, it seems that there is news to break, so it must be show day.
As expected, the IZOD IndyCar Series preseason test and media sessions have brought out several driver confirmations. We'll run down the list and then discuss what's still open and who is on the outside looking in.
Team Penske also unveiled their new color scheme today and shift in sponsorship. Penske president Tim Cindric is expected to be on the show. Also, Ryan Hunter-Reay is scheduled to updated us on his schedule with Andretti Autosport. Versus analyst and tech guru Jon Beekhuis may also be on the show. He's ready and willing but is trying to juggle a dinner ...
Thursday 2/18 show notes

Tonight's "Trackside with Curt Cavin and Kevin Lee" (Thursday 2/18) will continue the conversation on the four different options for the next generation IndyCar. Last week's show provided insight from the designer of the Delta Wing (the most radical option) along with a car owner and a driver. That stellar lineup, along with the new CEO of the Indy Racing League, left less time than normal for discussion.
This week we'll go light on guests to allow us to catch up on emails and to talk amongst ourselves. There are still many questions to be answered. We'll try to collect them (and hopefully answer some) tonight and then go out and seek answers next week. I'm interested if any opinions on the Delta Wing have softened after a week. The good thing is a decision is not needed immediately, so we all reserve the right to change our opinion (possibly ...
Thursday 1/28 Show notes

Once again, the folks in the news making business have been kind enough to wait until Thursday to provide us with something substantial to discuss. Today we learned that Tony George, for the moment, has no ties to the series he founded. George has suspended operations for his IZOD IndyCar Series race team, Vision Racing. Yesterday/this morning it was learned the Indy Racing League has reportedly offered the CEO position to Randy Bernard, the CEO of the Professional Bull Riders Association.
It will be a perfect night to have Doug Boles in studio again, this time for the entire show. Doug is a motorsports attorney who represents drivers and brokers sponsorship deals. He's also the former co-owner of Panther Racing and has worked in a high level position in the Indianapolis Mayor's office.
There are several other interesting stories to hit on and we'll cover as much as we can ...
