Tyler Wideman's putback with less than four seconds on the clock gave Butler a thrilling 75-74 win over Seton Hall in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

Kamar Baldwin scored a career-high 32 points as the Bulldogs overcame a 14-point deficit to take the program's first BIG EAST Tournament win and set up a date with Villanova in Saturday's semifinals.

Butler is now 20-12, the 12th 20-win campaign in the last 13 seasons. Seton Hall falls to 21-11. The Pirates had beaten Butler in two regular-season games.

"We knew what it was going to take," said Butler coach LaVall Jordan. "It wasn't a game of perfect but we didn't hang our heads when things didn't go our way. We were down and we just fought back and battled back. And we've seen that out of this group before. We know we had it in us and it was great to see it come out at this moment."

With six straight points, Seton Hall took a 64-57 lead with 5:54 to play, Baldwin scored Butler's next nine points and his three-pointer tied the game at 66-66 with 3:35 to play. Just over two minutes later, a Henry Baddley transition lay-in gave Butler a 70-68, its first advantage since 4-3.

The teams then traded baskets for a 72-71 Butler lead with 35 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs got a key stop followed by a Baldwin free throw for a two-point edge with 22 seconds to play. Khadeen Carrington responded with a three-point play for a 74-73 Seton Hall lead with 11 ticks on the clock.

Baldwin took the ball and got in the lane, but his contested attempt was too strong. Wideman grabbed the rebound and converted the follow in one motion for the Butler win.

Seton Hall took an early 24-10 lead on the heels of a 9-0 run. After taking a 43-35 halftime lead, Seton Hall extended the advantage to 48-39 with 15:51 to play. That was the largest lead of the second half and at that point in the contest, Seton Hall had hit 8-of-12 from behind the arc. The Pirates would make only one three-pointer the rest of the game.

Baldwin's career night came on 12-of-20 shooting. Kelan Martin added 17 points, while Wideman and Sean McDermotteach scored 10. McDermott added a team-high seven rebounds.

Butler shot 48 percent in the game and committed only six turnovers. The Bulldogs made only six of 26 attempts from behind the arc.

The Bulldogs' defense limited Seton Hall to 29-percent shooting in the second half after the Pirates shot 65 percent in the first 20 minutes. Carrington led SHU with 17 points. Angel Delgado had 13 points, but shot only 4-of-13 from the field.

Butler and second-seeded Villanova will meet Saturday at approximately 9 p.m. The game will air on FS1.
