Darius Leonard Named ESPN's Top Rookie

It's been three weeks, but The Maniac has done enough to catch the eye of the national media.

The Colts rookie topped Jeff Legwold's top 10 rookies list following another impressive Week 3 performance.

Leonard, "The Maniac", has compiled 41 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble through his first three games as an NFL player.

Our very own Kevin Bowen pointed out a historic stat for the rook's hot start.

So, basically if he stays healthy he's a Hall-of-Fame player. Ok, let's not go that far just yet, but it's another impressive notch in his belt so far in his NFL career.

Remember after hearing that pick back in April?

Darius Leonard? Who?

South Carolina State? Isn't that the school from The Waterboy?

Now, he's listed above Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Saquon Barkley, ALL of the big names we talked all last offseason about.

That's the beauty of the NFL. That's the beauty of Chris Ballard's draft approach. Like Rick Venturi said on our station, Ballard didn't draft to make news or for the headlines; he drafted for his grades, his needs, and what he thought would fit for this team.

If the first three weeks of his career are any indication of how Leonard will pan out, we're all in for a treat for the next 10-15 years.
