2013-2014 Pacers Make NBA2K18 as a "Classic Team"

Remember the good ol' days?
It was announced on Sunday night that the 2013-2014 Pacers team led by Paul George, Roy Hibbert, and David West will be featured as one of the 16 Classic Teams in NBA2K18 when its released next month.
Crazy how quickly eras end in pro sports. Seems like yesterday that it was common belief that the core of this team would be competing for Eastern Conference championships for at least five years, and that Paul George would soon dethrone LeBron James while leading the Pacers to the promise land.
Now less than five years since this team and instead of those championships, they're a "Classic Team" on a video game. Think about that.
As frustrating as that team was down the stretch, it still is pretty cool to see the Pacers getting some extra love on a game of this magnitude. 2K is the Warriors of basketball video games. There's just no competition. With that being said, there are some questions that need to be answered about the selection of this Pacers team to be the Classic Team representative on the game.
Did they forget about the '90's?
I mean, c'mon. They made a 30 for 30 about Reggie Miller and those legendary battles with the Knicks, but none of those squads are good enough to be a Classic Team? How about the 1999-2000 team? The only Pacers team in franchise history to make the NBA Finals. There might be an answer to this question, though. Apparently Reggie Miller still hasn't signed his rights away to be a character in these video games so that makes all of these teams a lot less juicy of a pick to play with. Rik Smits and the Davis Brothers are cool, but they're a lot less cool when they'd be playing with a faceless character named "Smith" or "Johnson" taking the place of Reggie.
If its the ladder, you'd really have to tip your cap to how realistic 2K has become. Everyone plays 2K like the Pacers played the second half of that season: dribbling until the shot clock is at 2, chucking up desperate threes, and playing no defense.
Another thing to look forward to with this team is only playing with four players. Centers have long been extinct in video games, but Roy Hibbert took it to a new level in 2014. It got to the point where his minutes played were basically extended down-backs up and down the court. That is, of course, when he wasn't picking himself up off the ground after falling like a baby giraffe on skates.
Features That Need to Be Featured:
Personally, I'd like to see a few things included from that season that just really wouldn't be the same without them.
- Sir-Lance-Alot should be what plays as the loading screen when waiting for game play to start. Nothing gets you more hyped than Lance Stephenson dressed as another version of Lance Stephenson promoting Lance Stephenson.
- If playing with the 2013-2014 Pacers in franchise mode, you should be able to go out fishing with Paul George and Roy Hibbert, maybe if the team is playing poorly, but definitely when one of them is sleeping with another one's girl. You can unlock extra cash to spend or points to use if you post about it on social media too.
- An all-access behind the scenes look at the infamous photoshoot.
What will really be interesting is to see who shows up on the All-Time team. Not only is 2K selecting 16 Classic Teams, but they're also picking the All-Time team made up of the best players ever from each franchise. Reggie is obviously the slam dunk pick here, but with him possibly not being in the game, it becomes more difficult. There still are a couple guys, besides Reggie, who I think will be on there, but the Pacers are a franchise that has a lot of guys you could make valid arguments for. Here's my 5 I think will make it without the Knick Killer:
PG - Mark Jackson
SG - Jalen Rose
SF - George McGinnis
PF - Jermaine O'Neal
C - Mel Daniels
Who is your five all-timers?
